Private Pay Billing Specialist
Position: Private Pay Billing Specialist
Reports to: Revenue Cycle Manager
Status: Full-time: Non Exempt
The Private Pay Billing Specialist is part of the Revenue Cycle process team. He/she facilitates the Richter policies and procedures to affect the accurate and timely billing and collection process of client revenue.
Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Data Entry
- Perform Billing and Collection Functions
- Perform Private or Self Pay collection procedures
- Perform patient account analysis
- Complete basic bookkeeping functions (census or charge entry, cash application, adjustment processing)
- Generate and submit billing for private pay sources timely and accurately
- Document billing and collection activity in accordance with Richter Healthcare Consultants policy and procedure
- Work effectively within client and/or Richter Healthcare Consultants billing systems
- Effectively communicate and respond to inquiries by client staff, co-workers, and other party representatives
- Analyze and problem-solve when faced with obstacles
- Effectively prioritize and manage time to accomplish project goals and expectations
- Communicate status of projects to team leader/manager on a daily or weekly basis depending on project requirements
- Report project status to client weekly via reports, documentation in software or AR calls as directed
- Insurance verification, statement generation, follow up
- Respond to Patient Billing Inquiries
- Handle daily billing calls on behalf of assigned clients/accounts
- Follow up on billing inquiries made after hours
- Follow up on billing concerns from residents, family and staff
- Complete tracking worksheets
- Perform other duties as assigned
Job Requirements:
- High School Diploma, Associates Degree preferred
- 3 – 5 years of professional billing experience, preferably in a healthcare environment
- Collections experience
- Experience billing Medicaid patient liability
- Must possess an extensive knowledge of Medicare and Medicaid requirements, procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines that pertain to healthcare providers
- Must have the ability to make independent decisions
- Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with team members, other staff, residents of client facilities, family members, visitors, government agencies, and the general public
- Must possess the ability to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing practices
- Must possess a high degree of attention to detail and best practice as it relates to client data
- Must possess basic computer literacy skills, including Microsoft Excel and Word
