Managed Care enrollment continues to increase, and with this Long Term Post-Acute Care (LTPAC) providers face additional scrutiny, along with risk for negative findings and recoupment of payment after medical record reviews. Many are not prepared to defend the facility and substantiate the care provided because of a lack of understanding of the many variables in contracting and case management. This course will address how LTPAC providers should approach all aspects of “managed” care: intake, case management, contracting and billing, clinical documentation and preparation of the medical record for audit.

Senior Living providers may have adopted a process of assessing and charging residents for different “tier” levels of service as opposed to utilizing an all-inclusive rental amount. Charging the resident by the level of service provided allows for flexibility in your pricing structure, and tells the resident that they are only being charged for the services they are receiving. However, providers may not have really determined if the charges applied actually cover the value of the services rendered. As the Baby Boomer generation begins to populate the Senior Living market, providers will need to analyze the true costs of providing care and services to their resident occupants. This course will review the different options Senior Living providers may choose for tracking and recognizing revenue derived from service level charges.
