Title: Piecing the Puzzle Together: SNF Medicare Reimbursement Methodologies
Speakers:
Jennifer Leatherbarrow, RN, BSN, RAC-CT, QCP, CIC, Senior Clinical Consultant
Maureen Hedrick, Director of Consulting Services
In this ever-changing healthcare era, we are continuously faced with new quality measures and new payment systems, along with greater expectations from the public, surveyors, and policy makers. Adapting to these new demands requires the use of innovative strategies. With the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) efforts shifting focus from volume to value, it is critical that post-acute care (PAC) providers understand the implications of the numerous reimbursement reforms. From Bundled Payment Initiatives to the proposed Resident Classification System (RCS-1) and the Quality Payment Program, PAC providers need to know how to put this puzzle together. This presentation offers the Skilled Nursing provider clarity on the various programs and their impact, as well as strategies for meeting the challenge of a consumer-centric health economy. The future is fast approaching and what SNFs don’t know may hurt their bottom line sooner rather than later.
Participants will:
- Understand key components of CMS Innovation Models, and the pending regulatory reimbursement changes (RCS-1)
- Discuss the focus of CMS Innovation strategies surrounding Medicare Shared Saving Programs (MSSP), Value Based Care initiatives, and identify challenges specific to PAC providers
- Learn effective strategies to manage change and benefit from the new opportunities inherent to the pay-for-performance methodology
- Identify the various elements that are incorporated to determine reimbursement in the RCS-1 payment model
