The presentation (Concurrent Session 2B) will be held from 1:15 – 2:30 p.m. in Easton D. \nThe Notice of Election (NOE) is a requirement for participation in the hospice benefit available under the Medicare program. Providers must understand the program correctly in order to ensure that billing for services can be facilitated properly. Small errors in the election process\, including documentation\, can result in a significant loss to the provider. This session will provide an overview of the NOE requirements for hospice providers and will include key information as to why an NOE would be determined to be invalid. \nSession #2:  Managed Care Audit Defense\nThursday\, September 14th \nBobbie Tiedt-Donohew\, BA\, CEAL and Jennifer Leatherbarrow\, RN BSN\, RAC-CT\, QCP\, CIC\, Senior Clinical Consultant\, will present Managed Care Audit Defense. The presentation (Concurrent Sessions 6B) will be held from 3:45 – 4:45 p.m. in Easton D. \nManaged care enrollment continues to increase\, and with this\, long-term post-acute care (LTPAC) providers face additional scrutiny and risk for negative findings and recoupment of payment after medical record reviews. Many are not prepared to defend the facility and substantiate the care provided because of lack of understanding of the many variables in contracting and case management. This session will address how LTPAC providers should approach all aspects of managed care: intake; case management; contracting and billing; clinical documentation; and preparation of the medical record for audit. \nSession #3:  QAPI – WHAT Is It? WHY Do We Need It? HOW Do We Begin?\nFriday\, September 15th\n \nJennifer Leatherbarrow\, RN BSN\, RAC-CT\, QCP\, CIC\, Senior Clinical Consultant\, will present QAPI – WHAT Is It? WHY Do We Need It? HOW Do We Begin? The presentation (Concurrent Session 7C) will be held from 8:30 – 9:45 a.m. in Easton E. \nThose working in an LTPAC setting know that change is the only constant. Recently\, Quality Assurance (QA) and Performance Improvement (PI) were streamlined into what is now known as the QAPI process. QAPI is the coordinated application of two mutually reinforcing aspects of a quality management system: Quality Assurance (QA) and Performance Improvement (PI). QAPI takes a systematic\, comprehensive and data-driven approach to maintaining and improving safety and quality in nursing homes\, while involving all nursing home caregivers in practical and creative problem solving. \nClick here to learn more and to register for the 2017 LeadingAge Ohio Annual Conference and Trade Show \n
